Novigrad is liest on the southern coast of Novigradsko more, 32 kilometers from Zadar. Novigrad is becoming more and more important tourist center because of the picturesque landscape and two long narrow sea passages (Novsko and Karinsko zdrilo). There are also two bays with brackish water (because of the vicinity of mouth of the river Zrmanja), that are abundant with fish and shells. In the 13th century Novigrad is mentioned as castrum. On the hill above the village, there is a fortress from the 13th century.
